Over the past couple of seasons, we’ve had a strange relationship with So You Think You can Dance. For five seasons, it was the excellent antidote to our American Idol withdrawal. It was a viable replacement for the Idol season - as well as boasted greater music. (Yeah, I stated it!) But then, soon after season five concluded, its producers decided to switch points up, providing us a fall season. And immediately after having just watched Jeanine Mason choose up the win, So You Believe It is possible to Dance fans weren’t necessarily eager to watch the show stretch its legs into one more season so soon.
Then, thanks to poor ratings, SYTYCD decided to revamp its premise for season 7, hiring all-stars to renew our interest inside the show. The new premise worked for hardcore fans - but failed to choose up quite a few additional viewers. Actually, the season posted a number of the least impressive ratings of the series’ whole run. Had the show lost its luster? Or, following two back-to-back seasons, did we basically expertise SYTYCD exhaustion, creating its summer premiere much less anticipated?
We’ll see which is accurate tonight, with the return of the dance competition series. Admittedly, I’m additional excited for the show than I was last summer - distance really makes the heart grow fonder. (It is been practically a year considering that we watched Lauren Froderman choose up the season 7 win, think it or not.) And then there’s the Mary Murphy factor: I guessing a louder, a lot more bombastic SYTYCD season will garner considerably much more excitement. Plus, I truly, definitely missed Cat Deeley, didn’t you?
